conspiracy theory 101
Things happen when you most expect them not to. Talk about having intuition and sixth sense; were I left to survive on that I’d be as good as a fish caught on a hook. Dead and served on a platter.
There I was, dreamy and wide eyed, minding my own business so to speak when in an iota of a second, my surroundings went three sixty. Gloom and glum conquered every bit of sunniness there was. Looking around, I saw glimpses of people. They were dark figures who are slowly closing the gap that was separating me from them. The divide between safety and fatality seemed narrower by every pulse of fear that coursed through me. The darkness left me blinded. I see nothing. Only their footsteps echoed from the ground.
I stood up. Silently, I began to back off. Taking one step at a time, my footing was sure. Yet, a few paces later, there was nothing for me but frustration and panic. I had backed right into a wall. What now?
Soft but audible through out the soundless space, I could hear them breathe. They’ve already closed in. There’s no where to go, no where to run. A tiny ray of light shone through the crack of the wall, illuminating me. There were a number of them. Their faces hidden still. None spoke nor made any noise. Nearer and nearer they came until they had gathered around me. I leaned against the wall, hoping I could disappear that very moment.
Slowly they whispered, “Have you gotten yourself a boyfriend yet?”
As their glances bored through me, I slowly recognized each and every one of them. I knew them. Of course I knew them! How could I have not? They were close friends and family. I shook my head. They grimaced upon receiving my answer. No, they were not amused. In spite of that, they slowly retreated without saying another word…
